How To Make Great Paint

One of the stops (and a high point) on a recent trip to Holland was touring the Royal Talens factory in Apeldoorn, Holland.  Royal Talens makes the “Rembrandt” line of oil colors I use in my paintings.  The tour was arranged by Olaf Burgers of Talens Don Nederlandand conducted by Don Nederhand, the color specialist at Talens, also an artist.  What an amazing experience! We toured the pastel and artist paint factory and saw every phase of production, from research and development, testing, production to packaging.  Talens does a really good job of integrating art and arcane knowledge into a high tech, modern process and facility.    They have a good website that doesn’t do justice to the amazing paints:
